Gracie 5/19/94 – 9/23/11

Yesterday, on “her” couch, with the help of our trusted veterinarian, Gracie’s spirit moved on.

This morning, in the pasture next to my sister’s house, we buried her body.

I read the lyrics from Bob Dylan’s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go.”

Here is Shawn Colvin’s cover:

Few of us are fortunate enough to know such a tenaciously loving and loyal companion as Gracie. And few dogs are so fortunate as to know such a loving, loyal, and dedicated person as you. She took care of you, stood by you, and in many ways knew you like none other just as you did for her. As her condition worsened, you loved her with tenderness and compassion, going to great lengths to keep her as comfortable as possible. The relationship between you and Gracie is a lasting tribute to love. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Thanks for sharing this private moment with me, I appreciate the love and devotion you had with Gracie. I am sorry for your loss, but remember that in the Spirit world, she is always joyful and playful like when she was a puppy, keep her that way in your heart, you will almost see her around the corner often, I know you already feel her essence. Be well my friend and be gentle with yourself.
